I plan on getting a variable, something along the lines of a 2X7, so I can also test loads off the bench, then dial it down for faster pickup when hunting. The older I get, the worse my eyes are, and magnification makes all the difference. I tried to shoot a four-inch bullseye this summer at 100 yards with open sights, and I couldn't even find it!
I've already got XS Scout mounts for all three Marlins, the 336 wears the pistol scope right now, but the eye relief is just a hair too long to use it comfortably, I have to move farther back on the stock when I shoot it. And once I replace it, it's going back on my Buckmark to shoot bees this summer!
