My little wheels are turning
« on: December 23, 2004, 06:28:50 AM »
Well, I just called my local gun shop. Told them I would trade my Savage 300 WSM for a H&R Ultra Hunter in 30-06 (FOR MYSELF) and Rossi stainless 22/410 youth combo (FOR MY BOYS) We'll see how much she wants to deal. Picked up the 22-250 last night see to if it had the extrator and it did. Would get it but already have a 223 and a 243. The 30-06 will serve me better. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

BBF I think you will be impressed by the Rossi Youth combo.  I just picked one up for my daughter.  See my report under 'Rossi Single Shot Rifles'.  I payed $147.08 at Waly-World for mine.  Best of luck and Merry CHRISTmas to you and the family.

Thanks guys, I just called and she said she was still workin out the numbers. Truth be known I'm probally the biggest horse trader here and that is sayin alot. Brett was that combo stainless, because she has the stainless for 179.00  I have a Ultra varmint in 22 mag for the boy, but it will not fit him for a couple years. And for what laminated stocks cost there is no way I'm cuttin it down.

BBF, what about just putting a set of youth Synthetic stocks on it for him until he grows into the Ultra Laminated set? I think there was someone selling or trading a set of the youth synthetics in the classifieds a while ago, might still be there, I'll check after I send this out, watch it, here it comes....<><....

Never mind, I checked and it's a post from another forum member wanting a set of youth stocks, sorry....(how about getting any old buttstock and cutting it down?)

hey guys,

there was a composite youth set on ebay last night around 2:00am central.  They were cheap, too.  I seems like I had to try several different searches before they popped up though.

BBF that price of $147 is for the stainless model. It goes for around $129 in blue at Waly-World here in NC.  Like I said see my post under 'Rossi Single Shot Rifles?' on this forum.  I would provide you with a link but I haven't a clue how to do it.

Thanks to all who responded to me via PM's about youth stocks. By chance i did find a set. My good friend had a set. I got my Ultra 30-06. You talk about a sweet trigger pull. I also got the stainless youth Rossi combo too. Me and the boys were really excited. I can not waite to shoot the 30-06 and cut down the stock just a little more on the Rossi for the boy.

Yes, she did make the trade. My wife was quit surprised that I traded off the 300 WSM. I wanted the a new Ultra, but more than anything I wanted to get my boy the Rossi combo. He really likes it. Got my other son a Red Ryder BB gun. When Spring gets here the aluminum cans better watch out.
