I haven't had a lot of time to shoot this gun but I can tell you for sure that it has that famous S&W trigger, light and really slick. I've put a few 336gr. WFN bullets thru it but primarily I'm wanting to use 240 SWC cast bullets and I've got some loaded, just have to get to the range and use'm up. This gun is also equipped with a laser sight, in as much as, I'm gonna keep it in the house. I'll have more to report in a couple of weeks if all goes well.

I carry a 4" 629 almost all of the time while hunting/fishing/hiking. I found the best holster for my uses at Survival Sheath Systems. Its a chest holster. It sits above the waiders and is completely out of the way of pack straps. You should check on out if your looking for a carry holster for it.

Thanks for the info, Bro' Bear. I too want to carry it whilst fishing and hunting. I'll take a look at the holster for sure.

bear which one did you order i have a 629 4" just love it i use it for bear protection when fishing my 500 in a bit to big haha

If you just call the guy from survival sheath he will make you a chest holster for you 4 629. It isn't listed on his website but he charges the same price as the one listed for the 629 mountain gun. It was a really quick turn around time and the holster is great. I strongly recomend it for feild carry. Above the waiders and out of the way of the pack straps.
