Cabela's Remmie 5 1/2
« on: December 24, 2004, 10:03:46 AM »
Well, got a $30 off coupon from them the other day, so I'm on the list for one of Cabela's Pietta 1858 Remington .44s with the 5 1/2-inch barrel.  They're back ordered until Jan. 3, supposedly, but at $189 less $30, this peestola is costing about $164 to my door, which hits me as a good deal. I hope its a sweet and accurate shooter, and that it handles as good as it looks.

You will like the shorter barrel

:D Bill,
Congratulations on your new 1858 Remington. You are going to love the shorter barrel. I don't have the shorter barreled 1858 Remington yet but I have the full sized one by Pietta. The metal is a bit softer than I like to see but it is a shooter. It is capable of "minute of clay bird" accuracy out to 65yds. I do however have a brace of the 5.5" Ruger Old Armys and since I got them the full sized guns haven't seen much range time. The shorter guns are just more fun  :-) . I have also heard that Pietta is using harder metals these days. Please give us a report when you get it as I may have to add one of these to my collection of smoke wheels.

 Best Wishes,
                   Billy
