Merry Christmas to All. Well, I'm going in the direction opposite from the .45 GAP. Could you guys with experience with it weigh in on what's going on lately with the .45 Super cartridge? I'm also curious as to just what modifications are required to enable a 1911 pistol to safely shoot this cart. I know it operates at almost twice the pressure of a standard .45 ACP & just a stiffer recoil spring alone can't be expected to protect the gun from the hammering such a cart will deliver to it.So, what else would be needed to make the gun stay healthy shooting this cart? jd: I can't recall if the barrel on the 45 Super is ramped or not but I do recall the kit coming with or recommending heavy springs, etc. True it is a higher pressure cartridge than the 45 Auto but the 1911 frame also handles 3 other higher pressure rounds than the 45: the 38 Super, the 9x23 and the 9mm - each of those cartridges has pressures running in the 30-36k psi range. The 400 CorBon runs into the 30k psi range as well. I believe that with the 45 Super you can also shoot standard 45 Auto. I think I will hold my water for a while though, and wait to ehar what some of the other folks say. HTH. Mikey.
