Remington 760 Barrel Swap
« on: December 26, 2004, 12:44:18 PM »
I tried this on the pump rifle forum to no avail. Is it possible to simply remove the barrel on a 760 or 7600 & put a barrel for another cartridge on? Of course a new clip would be needed to go from long to short. Thanks...Phil

I am uncertain.  I can see no reason this would not work.  Of course being a pessimist I would check the headspace!  Still I don't see any problems..  As an aside the heaadspace on these is easiest to check with the barrel and the bolt head out of the receiver.  I will check a bit more about parts interchangeability and let you know if I find a problem.

Remington 760 Barrel Swap

Dear Phil,
I recently did a second barrel for a customer. He has a 760 with a 30-06 barrel and wanted something heavier for elk[?] so I had a second barrel rebored/rifled and made him a 338-06. Easy to swap and it works fine. Just a thought.

260AAR- have you ever removed the barrel extension from a barrel and installed a completely different barrel?
