That gun would be really good for impressing your friends (not to mention BGs) but I'd hate to wear that sucker all day.

Maybe if it had a 4" barrel it might impress me better.  Right now it looks like a snub-nose concealed carry gun.

I wonder just how many Alaskans wanted and or would carry such a thing.  As I have said before; "Just put the word Alaska(n) in the name and they expect it to be better for some reason."

I'm not buying it. :bye:

I have a 3 inch Ruger 454 Casull for over a year now. It was customized by Jack Huntington. It is called the 454 Super Streethawk. It was cut down and had the muzzle crown inverted. The scope mounts groves were welded and polished. The gray finish was bead blasted and polished to a bright finish. One thing my gun has that the new Ruger Alaskan does not have is, my cylinder is modified to accept 45ACP and 45 Win Mag with moon clips. With the 454 Casull I get 1 1/2 inch groups at 25 yard.  :D  I took this gun with me on my Alaskan trip this year for Caribou. It was our tent gun.  :-D

Redhawk,
Do you have any case head problems when firing full bore 454's in the cylinder cut down to accept 45acp's?

I think that is a great idea and would like to have an Alaskan modified like that if there are no case problems with the more powerful loads.

I have shot all four rounds and not one problem. I shot about 50 45ACP then some 45 Win Mag and then some 454 Casull. I also shot some 45 L/C  just to compare all the different rounds at one time. Gun worked like a champ.  :D

Redhawk1,

doesnt your Super use moonclips with the .45acp and .45winmag rounds?

Yes it does, I missed that in the original question.  :)
