Is it possible for the crosshairs in a scope to get canted to one side. I have an old Tasco World Class that this has happened to. The scope is level on the gun but the crosshairs are canted. If you straighten up the crosshairs, then the scope in crooked on the rifle, going by the adjustment knobs. What happened??

Actually yes, it is possible.

The cross hairs are adhered to a threaded ring which is located in the eye-bell. I'm not sure if yours is gluded in place or has locking rings but It can rotate should either the glue fail or the locking rings back off.

So, is the scope trash or what? Can it be fixed? Probably no warranty on it as I bought it used!!

If it's older than a couple years, there would be no warranty on it and it will probably cost more than it's worth to have it fixed. If you don't mind a scope that may fog up on you, remove the ocular bell and try to fix it yourself, you've nothing to loose but the nitrogen purge. ABO will repair it if you want to pay for it, but I'd recommend you buy a new scope before you put money in the old glass.

I have two 2x7 Tasco "World Class" scopes. They have performed well though the most used one's power adjustment ring has gotten loose so I figure it will lose it's nitrogen soon if it hasn't already. I am not sure how Tasco handles warranty work but it might be worth a try. Anyone know who to call or where to send them?

Rick, there is no warranty for pre Bushnell Performance Optics owned Tascos. The link above to ABO will get you to the only Tasco repair facility that I have seen for other than current production Tasco optics.

Try recentering the hairs by turning them all the way to one side then counting the number of turns in the opposite direction. Return the hairs to the center by going back 1/2 the number of turns. Do this for both elevation and windage. Maybe the scope was mounted wrong the first time. Once you know the hairs are centered remount the scope on the rifle.

There is an option for pre full warranty scopes, something like "replacement options". Both mine are under warranty still, oddly one was made in Taiwan and the other China. The Taiwan version is a nicer scope and there are obvious differences between them. Just out of curiosity I am calling them tommorow and sending the Chinese version in.
