Ugly is in the eye of the beholder I guess LOL ;) That heavy frame comes in handy using full house loads, Don't help carrying it;) I carry either cross draw or bandito. I own two, SRH 44mag/SRH 454 Casull. I had them both accurized and replaced front sights with fiber optic, rear as well, Keep the optic on the small side, don't go too big or you will loose distance shooting, due to bead is too big for long range shooting, replaced those stock grips with Hogue's mono grips, nice, they will for sure out last my life time, rugers don't have the best finishing work bye far, have a gunsmith smooth them out a bit, take those rough edges off, and your good to go. I think for the short money and good construction the Ruger rules. Long live Ruger SRH. I just love big wheelguns. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

ugly? Maybe... Good shooters? Absolutely!

Guess I had to put in my 2 cents worth.  If you want real beauty, then a Freedom Arms is the way to go.  If you want an accurate shooter that doesn't break the bank, the SRH is a dandy.  Mine is a 7-1/2" with Hogue grips and a 2X Burris Scope.  I would not call it a thing of beauty, but ugly is such a harsh word.  Besides, Taurus already has that title sowed up.  If I called it ugly, it might stop shooting so well for me.  With a decent load, it will shoot 3-4" groups at 100 yds.  On a deer, it works just dandy.  Took my first handgun deer with it this year, a 205# 11 pointer.  That makes it a damn pretty gun in my book!!

Still, when I happen to have a few thousand $$ to spare, I might still buy an FA.
Success is a journey, not a destination...  Might as well enjoy the ride!!

Just remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.  You can rely on 911 or on 1911. The choice is yours.

Ugly as sin.    Hurts my eyes to look upon them.   I usually close one eye and just quickly glance at them with the other while wearing sun glasses to minimize the damage to my eyes.

Are you nuts? It is a beautiful weapon! It shots great, it's comfortable to hold, it's the baddest pistol to date. You want UGLY look at a colt anocon-wimpy.

Rugers aren`t ugly Glocks are ugly.

Actually, they strike me as a "manly" weapon.  Kind of like Clint Eastwood; you can't look at him without thinking, "I'll bet he really DOES eat nails for breakfast."

I couldn't argue with anyone that told me mine is ugly.  Shortly after I bought mine they reintroduced the Blackhawk Hunters  .  Timing is everything.  Waiting for someone to do a special run of Bisley Hunters in .45 Colt.  If that ever happens, my .44 SRH might just have to find a new home.

What make's an Anaconda so wimpy?  I thought I read that they're stout enough for Corbon ammo.  Could be wrong though.  As far as looks go, I'd take an Anaconda over a SRH any day, price won out over looks though when I got my .44 Mag.  Everyone's entitled to their own opinion :D

Beauty, or lack of beauty, is a matter of individual judgement.  Its a value judgement.  My mother, for example, thinks I'm handsome!

I agree, Frosty, Colt has its head stuck where the sun don't shine.  They've got a good platform there but they are not exploiting it.

Rugers SRH is a fine wheelgun, I enjoy shooting them a lot, also love to hunt with them, a little on the heavy side, the Bandito makes it nice to carry, sometimes forget its there;) Aim small hit small. RAMbo.
