At times wally world does have sales on particular guns. Recently they sold the Weatherby Vanguards at a great reduction. But usually you have to run a price check to find out about these deals, they don't tell you unless you and a manager are good buddies.
Actually that was a clearance. A "clearance" is when the price of a discontinued item is reduced in order to clear it out of inventory more quickly. Clearanced items are usually sold at a loss. A "sale" is when a store temporarily reduces the price of an item (but not below a profitable rate) in order to move more units than normal in a given amount of time. The item is still stocked regularly and the price will return to it's original level after a time.
While Wal-mart does clearance items when discontinued, they virtually never run sales. That's the whole thing behind their slogan "Everyday low prices."; their items are supposed to be priced well enough that you don't have to wait on a sale to buy like with other stores .
As for the guns for $157, that's normal price for a Rossi at Wally-world. Before the .357 mag was discontinued it was around $135.
