I am not 100% sure the proper technique to use but I know that a rabbit call will bring them in. I am trying to figure out the proper technique myself. I don't know if you keep calling until they come in or if you call and stop and they come to where you are. Try varmintal.com.

Sounds like you have a good starting set-up.  varmintals.com has some good info. I would add a howler to your gear used sparingly it seems to help trigger a territorial response.

The county you describe sounds pretty bushy (at least compared to bald ass prairie). in that situation try to make stands where the open area is down wind that will  force them into the open if they try to wind you.

I think of a single calling sequence as being 3 min of calling 7 min of waiting. If I add a howl it is after the rabbit call and usually only 1 or 2.  In the 3 sequences I usually go

1 medium quiet (just in case something is close by)
2 loud (cover as much area as possible)
3 medium (Just in case there is a late comer)

I think a minimum time on a stand is 30 min (or 3 sequences) but if it is a good area or you have call stuff in stay at least 45.  The distance between stands is dependent on how well the sound travels that day.  If you get a shot keep going on your calling sequence even add another sequence. I tried that for the first time this year and we were rewarded  3 coyotes from the one spot.

Good camo is a must or at least really good cover.

If the yotes are fooled expect close shooting (50ish) and they will run right to you. But if they are spooky for some reason watch the tree line and down wind. I have found that if they are going to run in it's in the first sequence, sneakers usually take longer to arrive.

You may have to go through a couple of calls before you find one that works in your area. And keep trying untill you find out what works or you fine tune your calling areas.

This may sound dumb but call from where you expect them. if it is mourning or evening call from areas you expect them to be hunting but if it is mid day call around expected bedding areas.

Here are some very low priced calls from Cabelas.

They are Cass Creek.  I have 2 of them and they sound pretty good.  Sound as realistic as the tape I have been using and a lot lighter than the tape deck too.  I haven't hunted with them yet but will soon.

I got 2 calls and the speaker for Christmas and the speaker was bad.  I emailed the company, not Cabelas, and they said "send it back and we'll give you a new call of your choice to cover your shipping"  It's in the mail now.  Outstanding customer service in my opinion.

Just $21.99 for the calls and $17.99 for the speaker.

Make sure you check out the demos page.  You can actually listen to them.
