Tech Force Model 34 vs. 97
« on: December 29, 2004, 03:19:42 PM »
I am considering a Tech Force air rifle. I have read good things about them in this forum. I have narrowed it down to models 34 and 97. The 97 cites 900 fps in 177 0.15" c-t-c groups @ 10m Price w/scope $120. The 34 cites 850 fps , no grouping mentioned, price w/scope $60. Both are fixed barrel, underlever models. Does anybody have any experience with either model. They seem very close for difference in price.

goodconcretecolor,

First let me Welcome you to Graybeards Outdoors.  The very best forum on the net for hunters/shooters going today.

Now to your question.  For the difference I would go with the M97.  Reason is with the 97 you can have a Jim MacCari mainspring installed for an added $25.00 where the 34 you can't.  Believe me the MacCari is well worth the difference.  Also the accuracy rating for the 34 is somewhere around 0.25 C-T-C.  You’ll be much happier with the 97 and the people at Compasseco, Inc. are great people to do business with(and the only company you can get the Jim MacCari mainspring for Tech Force rifles).  Lawdog

Jim MacCari is one of the premiere spring makers in the US.  The main advantage's are longer spring life, more consistent velocities and more velocity.  I own and shoot the Tech Force 99M(.22 caliber) and I purchased the model 97 for my daughter(.22) and sister(.177) and had the MacCari spring installed in both.  I had shot my daughter's 97 before sending it back to Compasseco. Inc. for the MacCari spring and there is a noticeable difference.  For an additional $25.00 it’s a bargain.  It's been a excellent 2004 and everyone be safe tonight so we can all have a better 2005.  Lawdog
