Handi-rifle recoil?
« on: December 30, 2004, 10:12:47 AM »
I'm considering getting one of these in either .243, .270, 0r 7mm-08.  Is the recail approxcimately the same in these guns as with a typical bolt action in the same caliber (if shooting the same ammo)?  In other words, do these things take your shoulder off, or are they about the same as other guns?

I have a 270 handi right now and i think the recoil is very tolerable. My father has a winchester m70 chambered in 270 and i don't think mine handi kicks as bad as it does. His is wood stocked and mine is synthetic. I also had a 243 youth barrel awhile back it kicked harder than the 270 did. Seemed like it was more of a sharper kick.

Here's a recoil table to show the recoil of each respective caliber...The .270 has about double the recoil of the .243 and the 7mm-08 is midrange twix the two in recoil.
