What is this BAR worth?
« on: February 01, 2003, 01:58:48 PM »
Looking at a Grade II Full Belgium made 243 winchester BAR.  It was made in either 1969 or 1971, I just don't remember which one.  How rare are these in this caliber?  I would grade it at 80% due to some surface marks and scratches on the stock.  Blueing has a little wear, mainly at crown of muzzle.  It is missing sight hood, which could be easily replaced.  I know what the accessories that come with it are worth, but would like to know what the actual rifle itself is worth - maybe book value versus market value?  Thanks for any helpful info.
Not that I really need it, but please tell me that there is enough difference in the 243 and 30-06 round to justify getting the rifle.  Sometimes the 06 just fits too many situations to let us really justify adding another to the list.  I think I know the answer to this, but it always helps to have encouragement.
The intruder turns around slowly, sees both barrels, and hears a low-deep voice say "Son, the left one's iron and the right one's steel, if the left one don't get you, the right one will"
