Are you looking for a bench or a rifle rest??

Moose;
I've kind of taken an intrest in the new one they've been advertising on the Outdoor Channel!  It's called the Lead Sled!  It supports your rifle and absorbs most of the recoil too!  It has a tray on the bottom, below your rifle to lay bags of lead shot and they soften the recoil!  It also has a thumb adjustable wheel on the front to adjust up or down!
It doesn't look like it would be too hard to make something like this, if you had the materials and knew how to weld!

Sounds like your looking for a shooting bench..  There's a fairly nice one at the top of this thread held there with a sticky.  I've been using the same outers rest(front) and leather bags for many years..  I've no private shooting bench instead using the picnic table as a bench.  I have plenty of room for shooting here at home but usually go to the range for serious group shooting. I've about talked myself into building a bench that can be moved with the lawn tractor to mow the grass but havn't convinced myself yet.. Check the strings at the top of the thread.

I built one like this.  http://buildgear.cjb.net/   Booger Bench
  I mounted  a scissor jack up front and use a sand bag at the back of the rifle.

I STRONGLY urge you NOT to click that URL. If you do you are subjected to three or four different spyware programs that will be added to your computer unless you have adequate spyware protection AND there were three separate popups and it tried to add some kinda new down load that I refused.

A VERY DANGEROUS SITE. BEST AVOIDED.
