I thought we were getting along...

Like I said, really like the 05 Ranger, but here now, I check out the Kawasaki site frequently and visit a local Mule dealer in Houston,   There is not a Ranger on the Kawasaki web site anywhere.  Thats just nonesense.    If you think that the Mule is DONE, then lizzard think again.  If they were done then why did they jsut come out with 2 new models?  Not to mention the rumored 06 sport model.   Please post the picture of the Kawasaki web site with a Polaris Ranger wearing a Kawasaki badge.  I believe Suzuki and Kawasaki have entered a partnership including a rebadged Mule wearing a Suzuki badge and colors.  They did the same to some of their atv's.

Whats wrong with plastic?   Hmm, nothing unless you don't like the softness when it is baked in the hot summer sun.  Why hasn't the automotive industry gone to plastic beds I wonder???

I've not read many complaints about rusting Mule beds over the years, and they have had steel beds since what 1988?  Polaris had a steel bed, not too long ago right?  I have a plastic frame handgun, but it doesn't take the abuse in the woods the bed of my little Mule does.   They may be really good, haven't tested one out personally, but a plastic bed, and so much plastic on the floor boards, etc..???   Can't see it holding up.  not that many hunters are mixing chemicals and batteries in the bed of the utility vehicles are they?  There are a good # of chemicals that will melt that plastic faster than it will rust a steel bed.  It's personal preference I'm sure, but please don't try to convince me that a wide but not deep plastic bed is better than a deepre, but not as wide steel one that hs proven itself for around 16 years now.


Not to mention again that made in the USA Polaris Ranger has a made in Japan motor.  A good motor to be sure, but just as  Japaneese as the one Kawasaki makes.  Fuji/Robbins,  not USA my friend.    Lets see the Mule is built in the USA, from impored parts. Not too different than Polaris.


Again, I like the Ranger, but maybe due to it's size and a couple of other things, it isn't putting Kawasaki out of business.   Now, be sure before putting that Rhino in the bed of the Ranger that it has had sufficient time to cool off so the Ranger bed doesn't melt.  LOL

Lizzzard I wish I had invented the bed liner just as much as I wish I had invented the chia pet.  They both fit into the same category of uselessness.  Believe me, there is nothing plastic in the bed of my truck either unless you want to count an old grocery bag or two.  

The only reason for the use of plastic on a ute is because it's cheap.  By the way, did I mention cheap?  I'll bet that 10 years from now the bed on the wife's mule won't look much different than it does now.  Yep, she'll probably be tooling around the yard on the thing even then.

You speak of riding faster to keep up!  What have you been smokin?  I'm the guy that rides the Prairie.  You don't even sell anything that will keep up unless you sell YFZ 450s also and I've got one of them in the garage too.

Please don't bother with the american made crap that polaris preaches.  Just plain ain't no such thing anymore with atvs, cars, trucks or anything else.

Mark,
Chevy has offered a plastic box on the Silverado for a couple of years now, I didn't see it offered on the website so they may have dropped it. If you see a Chevy that has the tailgate lettering in big letters all the way across, it's plastic. I think it was called "dura-tough".

After I got my 6x6 I took the box (it's steel) in & had a Rhino lining sprayed in. Probably the best hundred bucks I ever spent.

I have a 1999 Polaris 335 (334cc) automatic 4x4. I love it. Never had to change the tires, never had to replace 1 thing on it. Then again, I do take care of my stuff. Some ppl get stuff and just mess around with it but dont take the time to make sure it is running properly, and stuff like that. I have around 815-820 miles on it. It runs around 40mph, but its not made for speed, which I dont really care about speed. All I care about is going off-road, and getting where I need to get, and it does that just very nicly. Down here in Georgia, the bush is mighty thick, unless you're riding on a trail, and that 335 just walks right rhough that thick stuff. Granted it cant plow over 6-8inch trees, it would be stupid if I tried that, but my Polaris will GIT-R-DONE. Now I'm not saying that Polaris is the best on the market, but they got my vote :D

I figure that the polaris, yamaha, kawasaki or honda would probably last me as long as I need for it too.  I kinda sorta ruled the rhino out just because of its size.  I don't really need a 660 engine it seems like just a bit of overkill and makes for a big machine.  markc what is the 4 wheeler site that you made mention of, I you don't want to say on here please send a pm.  It looks like polaris, kawasaki are the side x sides of choice but ya'll steer me right.  My billfold is burning me.

don't get me wrong, I am not out to bash Polaris.  If I had the $ in my pocket, I would very likely buy a 2005 Ranger 4X4.  Why?  Because it fits my needs.     Do I think they make the best side by side?  Depends on your needs.  I don't think anyone makes one that will out work and outlast the Kawasaki Mule.  certainly the Polaris is faster etc.. but until it has the years and hours of work that the Mule does, I wouldn't consider it the best.   Some folks like plastic, some don't.  I prefer the steel used in the Mule to the plastic in the Ranger.  The 05 Ranger has some significant improvements over last years model which make it a better vehicle than it has been.   Either way, I hope ya'll ride safe.

264WinMag. Daveinthebush's comment about 95% of the 4 wheelers being Hondas, stated in the bush. I don't know if you understood he was speaking about Alaska. What is used in LA has little bearing on Daves statement.

I live in an Alaska bush village, and I don't know of a single 4 wheeler here that is not a Honda. Regards, Byron

Well, maybe you guys should get some Yamaha or Polaris dealerships up there in Alaska....just kiddin' lol

I don't know how it is over there in Alaska, but down here in Louisiana all we do is ride mud and there aren't a whole lot of hardcore Honda fans out there.

AK wheelers are used much MUCH more. Some are used as daily drivers to work, and to go get groceries, about like cars are used in LA.

I have a kawasaki prarie 700 and the day after I bought it i entered it in the local atv pull and won.  It came down to a pimped out polaris 700 and my stock prarie with 4 miles on it.  I blew it away.  that is all I have to say.

I also bought a Kawasaki Prairie 700.  The Power is outright insane and handles very well.   I have owned two Hondas and I do love the Honda.  However, the power of the Kawasaki is addictive.

My group of hunting buddies just bought three Hondas, 500 cc. 26" mudders, winch and hot grips.  I am the only one holding out as I think the 350 will be better on gas and still get me there.  I also have a bad back and the lighter machine might be better for me.

As Kurt and Pastorp stated Hondas are used for everything in the villages, year round and in all weather.  I have even seen four guys load one on 2 planks across a 17' Lund boat and take off up river with the thing sitting high up on top.  The small ones can be loaded into a bush plane and dropped off for distant hunts.  One guy running a mining camp east of Nome loaded three of them on a 2 skids along with other mining equipment and leap-frogged the loads behind 2 dozers 156 miles back to a silver mine in the middle of winter.

Another reason for buying the same thing as everyone else: Someone has probaly already broke it and knows how to fix it.

good point dave.  If you break down out there and the others are riding the same quad, they can likely help you out, or possibly even have some spare parts that would work to get you back to civilization.
