Bases & Rings
« on: January 03, 2005, 12:08:06 PM »
Need opinions on bases and rings for Encore 7/08 15".  Pretty much settled on buying Burris 2x7BP.  Had a Swift 1.5x4 but find I need a bit more power.  It was mounted on Weaver base but seems that the front is above the barrel taper.  Plus it catches bush and twigs in the gap.  Just want to get the setup right. Price not a problem. Can you help me out?

PS. Gotten 5 nice whitetails with it in the last 3 years. Thanks to you guys getting me started.

Use the Burris  dual dovetail pistol base with the Burris Signiture rings. Base is short and rings hold without marking scope. Ring inserts self aline on scope.

southern utah stated a good option.
i have my 15" 7-08 mounted up with "lapped" redfield 3 ring mount, and 3x12 burris. i like it 8) my 30-30AI contender is also mounted up with a 2x7 burris with this mount.

the weaver base is good for me also, but i like 3 rings on it. leupold vertical split type are around $12, and are nice also. my 300win mag is mounted up with a 2x6 bushnell trophy in this manner.

several good options

My other setup is Virgin Valley stainless weaver style base and Warne quick release rings.

Either the Burris of Leupold dual dovetail mounts.  You won't be disappointed
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)

Thanks for the return posts.  I'll mount the scope up with the burros Dual Dove tail system.  You guys help allot!   Since I started reading this forum I've gotten into reloading for the 7/08.  Now I can't reload fast enough or get to the range soon enough to qwell my passion for shooting my dc.  During the past 3 deer seasons I only take the handgun.  I think my long guns have been retired.  So much more fun with the Encore.
