Built my first dummy loads today for my Ruger .300 Win Mag. Used both Barntes 180g TSX and North Fork 180g bonded.
The problem I ran into is that when I build th ebullets to COL 3.400" so they fit in the magazine, there is still 0.123" freebore before the North Forks tough the lands. There is a similar situation with the Barnes TSX bullets but I didn't calculate the exact distance to the lands for the TSX's.
The Ruger is a new with a "canoe paddle" stock. I know this is not necessarily a real problem, as Weatherby rifles often have considerable freebore and still get good accuracy.
Just wondering if this is typical or what?
