Yes, just when I thought there was something that our enemies could not possibly blame on us, they DID!
I saw it on the news tonight (so it must be true).  A newspaper in Saudi Arabia claims that the tsunami (which caused so many Moslem deaths) was caused by a US/ Israeli/ Indian (read; Christian/Jewish/Hindu) nuclear bomb test in the Indian Ocean.
Also, of course, the Arab nations are withholding financial aid to the area because... it might fall into the hands of Infidels!
I'm speachless! :(

Somehow, it will be the U.S. and the west in general at fault for the way the earth turned.

I apologize for my shameless reference to my own words from the "Mixed Feelings" thread, but good grief.

What was it, less than a week?

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

FWEIDNER. Yep, you pegged it. Seriously, It really gives me a new look at what an underwater nuclear detonation could do if done in a wartime situation. Wipe out an entire navy, country, etc. Something to think about. POWDERMAN.  :D  :D  :D  :D

If the people spreading that manure really believed it, they would be a lot more polite.   I noticed the leader of Libya got a lot more polite after he was bombed, and got down right cooperative after Saddam was deposed.

TM7 - I really don't think that 90 minutes would have made a lot of difference in the overall results of this disaster. By the time the governments got the word out, the panic would have probably put more people out in the streets for the wave to kill. As for allies in Saudi Arabia blaming us for this, oh well you never know, we might decide to test our ability to manufacture vast amounts of glass in the desert with the applications of intense heat!     My way of thinking is that if I'm going to get blamed for it, I might as well do it!    CEJ...

Passing through the channels about a week ago I briefly stopped on CNN and thought I heard a woman being interviewed blame nuclear testing for the earthquake which caused the tsunami.  I thought "nah" she didn't just say that as I changed the channel.  Of course she did look like a San Francisco ex-hippie.

It amazes me that a political party lead by these types can get more than 10% of the vote.

The Discovery Channel website has an interactive portion of the website devoted to the tsunami which is quite interesting.  One of the little blurbs on the "interactive map" sums up the force of the earthquake which caused the tsunami quite well:

excerpt -

"Decades of pent up energy were released in a single blast when a 750 mile long section of the earths crust was thrust over 30 feet skyward.  The initial shock, which registered 9.0 on the Richter scale, occured 100 miles west of Sumatra.  It was as if hundreds of billions of megatons of TNT had exploded on the ocean floor"

Call me crazy but it sound an awful lot more powerful than any nuclear device we had in our arsenal.     It just goes to prove that when compared to Mother Nature we are still small fish in a big pond.

:D   I think we need to find a way to tell the Arab world that Allah was very upset at all the bad things the terrorists are doing in his name.

Did you really expect them to do anything else?   The ruling families donÂ’t help their poor in good times, why would they do so now?
