an old edition of "the abc of reloading" by dean grinnell. probably because it is the frist book on reloading i ever read, and read , and read, and still read. has a lot of net homemade tools and tricks dean wrote the book so that anybody with basic gun knowledge could understand. has a good section on the t/c contender.

My favorite is Speer #13. My least favorite is the Lyman Handgun reloading book because the velocities published are so unlike what you get in reality.  For accurate rifle loading, Precision Shooting's reloading book is excellent.

I've seen too much variation in the books over the years to rely on just one.  Some, as you will note, are hot on rifles, and puny on handgun loads.  Others are the exact opposite.  Typically, I reference about four of them, then let the chrono tell me the real tale!  Remember, every firearm is an individual.

Lee 2nd Edition--------max data on about anything you want to load.  A lot of it is compiled from many manufactures data and it lists many different type of bullets..............IMHO

Cartridges of the World is good, I finally got a copy.

But, I just got another one, from The Sportsman's Edge that I'm a member of.
"Ammo & Ballistics II - For Hunters, Shooters and Collectors".
By Bob Forker.

Good book - doesn't cover as many oddballs as CotW, but it does have lots more velocity and energy data for a wide selection of factory loads for each caliber. Has a nice history blurb on each one too and shows case dimensions.
I's a better book for the more popular calibers, I think.
Thirteen and a half pages devoted to the .308 Winchester!

For rifle data I have come to prefer the Nosler and Sierra manuals. Both are excellent resources if you use their bullets as I do. For general reloading purposes, including handgun cartridges, the Hodgdon manual (mine is a #26) is well worth securing. I have also found Pet Loads by Ken Waters to be a good reference manual and an excellent read.

I don't think you can have enough reloading books. I have 16 of them and I prefer the Layman the best.  Carl L.
