how much does a rimfire barrel cost to reline to another rimfire?
i have a rossi pump action rifle that sprays bullets all over. looking down the barrel the chamber seems to be fine, the crown looks perfect and the rifling is in great shape! it,s nice and shiny. i have cleaned it, but it just does not group well! it,s a 22 but i,m thinking a .17m2 berrel liner would be cool.
the gun is an early production one and is very well finished, with good wood, nice finnish, and deep bluing, i want to keep it because it was a gift, and it,s so pretty!  could i send it back to rossi?
   what do you guys think?

Brownells lists a cost of $75-225 to install a liner plus the cost of the liner. I would be tempted to find out why the rifle shoots so poorly now..before spending the bucks to reline.  How large are the groups produced? What kind of sighting equipment are you using.  What level of accuracy can you achieve with a different rifle.  No flames intended but can you shoot better than the rifle is producing right now??  with the same sighting arangement? Rimfire 22 rifles are sometimes very sensitive to the ammo.  Have you tried different types of ammo to determine what works best in your rifle???

By all means!!!  my advice also is to try all the different ammo ya can, from discount store to match... IMHO all rf ammo is not created equal to any specific gun...Good luck  Marty

i compete in 22rimfire benchrest, and do some three position, for fun. i,m shooting from 25yds from sandbags. with the ammo it likes two 2 to 2.5in. is the best it can do. my cz 22mag with open sites will put them in 3/8in. from that range. if i could get it shooting 1in. from 25yds i will be happy. thats not asking too much is it? it,s a very well made gun! it.s not at all like the current productions. that, and the fact that my dad gave it to me, i want to keep it but i want a  shooter!
