TRADITIONS 32 CAL CROCKETT PISTOL
« on: January 06, 2005, 04:12:48 AM »
Well I bought one from MID-SOUTH,118.00,plus the ride. I was suprised the fit and finish is really good. I have the Crockett rifle, so I thought this pistol would be a good match. Over the hollidays made the loading rod(comes with one,I do not trust it),took the pistol a part (could not resist) cleaned everything. Re-assembled, put TY-GON tubing on the nipple(so I could dry fire) possibly the worst trigger on this planet! Being a part time CAS shooter you learn to fix your guns or have a lot money, I am in the bracket called more time than money. Pull the lock and trigger, the tirgger is cast brass then groung to fit. well when JUAN made this trigger we got a little carried  away with the grinder(to short) no mechanical advantage on the trigger.Built that trigger back up(no problem),back to dry firing a little better, but still not smooth enough. Now for the lock, there is a adjustment scew, that adjusts for (half cock) and full cock. well this was backed out so far,you could hardly trip the lock with you thumb. well I can now say, this little pistol has one the nicest triggers. As for the select Hardwood? be very careful it dents very easily. I have about 2hrs total time in this pistol so I am pleased. I think for the money this may be a nice little shooter. My only concern is that it has a 1-48 twist. may be a little slow for a 32? when the weather gets a little better I let you know how it shoots. Would some one care to comment on the rate of twist for this pistol? Respectfully Montanadan(who now wishes he had gone to typing classes)

Traditions .32 Crockett pistol

Thanks for the info on the Crockett pistol montanadan.  I went to Thunder Ridge web site, and a couple of others, and they all list the rate of twist on the Crockett rifle at 1 in 48, but have the pistol at 1 in 16. I know my friends Crockett rifle is very accurate. After shooting that .50 trapper, I know that is real accurate at 25 yards, and the same sites listed the rate of twist as 1 in 20 for that, so I expect the Crockett should shoot well. When it warms up some, let us know how the .32 pistol performs. Cowpox

good to hear from you, it is de-frosting a little out here. My Crockett pistol is stamped 1:48 right on the barrel, have not actually checked the twist yet. I was so impressed with the trapper, I ordered one, not here yet (Monday?) The brass I used to buld up the trigger was to soft, so I am in the process of inserting steel, the brass was getting dented by the sear. Making the trigger snag?(lack of a better choice of words). I have the crockett rifle as well, if the pistol shoot half as well ,I would be satisfied. I will post as soon as I get a chance to shoot it. Hope you and yours have great New Years! Respectfully Montanadan....
