help
« on: January 06, 2005, 08:10:29 AM »
Well I shipped my 375 win barrel to T/C for a repair( stripped threads). They called my today said barrel was bad and they cut it up for scrap. They gave me a choice of any caliber to replace it with because the 375 win is no longer a caliber they make.
I told them to send a 375 JDJ barrel they said its on the way.My question is where can I get a set of dies that won't cost me a small fortune.

Hi
This how I got cheap dies for my 375 jdj. I got 444 brass... lubed a case and used a bar clamp held in a vise and using the hand screw part to force the lubed case into the barrel... Being very careful of the muzzle and chamber and used a dowel rod to tap them out...It was slow but I was only doing 50. After that I had basically fired cases. I then got a 378 weatherby die set, ground off some of both dies, ended up with a neck sizing die and one to put the bullets in with... Weird but it does work...So far. anyway!!! Be careful how much you grind off of them, I almost got too much on the first one I did.
Good luck
jim

I'd just call JD and get em, last I knew they were $68 + shipping........ya might get lucky and find a good price on a set of used ones but I doubt it, I just watched a used set sell on eBay for $83.00.
You could check with Eds Contenders he may have some?
