Remington 700 factory barrel...
« on: January 07, 2005, 10:14:39 AM »
Does anyone know how much a Remington 700 chambered in .308 Win. at 22" long, and .660 at the muzzle weighs?  It's a factory ADL barrel.  I realize I could take it off and weigh it, but I was wondering if someone has already done that and knows the weight.

Thanks,
Minuteman

I have one of em, mine mics .655 at the muzzle, don't have scales though, however I did in the past weigh one of my old 7-08 barrels also chrome moly, same taper, .670 muzzle 24" long and it was at 3lbs 2oz. no sights, so--- 2" shorter plus .024 bigger hole-----put the .308 barrel app. 2lb. 15oz to 3lbs.
 hope this helps,

Minuteman...I searched through my collection of take off barrels and I managed to find a 22' .308 Win barrel that came off an old Model 700 ADL.

It has no sights and the muzzle diameter is .655.

I have a deli counter scale, certified by the State of WA.  The scale says this barrel weighs 2.36 lbs.

This also equals 2 lbs. 5.76 ounces which also equals 37.76 ounces.

FWIW....Marv
