Saw on the news this morning warnings to the Christian folks helping the South Asia victims to be really carefull not to offend their muslum beliefs and to watch their actions. What bullpucky! They ( The muslums ) should just be darn happy some one is giving a helping hand and worry about their beliefs when every one goes home instead of peeing and moaning about it now!

I read that the other Muslims countries are withholding funds to help the tsunami victims because they say they donÂ’t want the money to fall into the hands of the infidel. I think that maybe we should leave the area because we do not want to offend them or stand in the way of their fellow Muslims sending aid.

I read also where sri lanka refused help from Israel after they offered food, medical supplies, and doctors. They finally said they would take the medical supplies and food but keep your people home. Israel, and others, should have told them to go to hell. POWDERMAN.

Amen powderman if them folks don't like our Christian ways, they sure ain't gonna like our Unchristian ways. Ungrateful bunch letem starve that will be that many we wont have to fight later. Keep in mind that it is the political leaders (or should I say dictators) of those nations who refuse Christian based aid because thy want to keep a strangle hold on their people. I'm willing to bet that the general populous would welcome Christian aid and in many instances Christianity if they got the opportunity. The later is what scares the crap out of their rulers.

This I agree with. I havent got much control over it but it bothers me to no end that my tax dollars and or my religious donations go to help people on the other end of the world who dont deserve it or even remotely apreciate it. I'm not just talking about the Tsunami tragedy either, but rather the way we feel the need to jump in & help anyone anywhere regardless of what they may have done to us in the past or will do in the future. Globalizaton sucks. IMHO anyway. Seems very one sided.

I've never understood how people can reflect on the teachings of Christ, add resentment, bigotry, despite, and hate, and still somehow believe that their words or attitude in some way represent those teachings.

I believe that Jesus would respond by "driving the money-lenders from the temple".

And He wasn't even a Christian.

If aid is to be given in a Christian spirit, there should be no expectation of thanks, reward, or repayment.

If they don't want it. Don't give it to them. If they do, give it to them and expect nothing in return.

I guess I dont see it as a Christian, nonchristian thing. If someone is offering to help, you either accecpt the help or not. But to insult those that would try to help is uncalled for. To try to dictate how others will help is not really the smartest thing. we will take your food and money but your MDs can stay out....then turn around a complain that our people are dying and the world doesnt care, go figure. My feeling is why should countries just flush money down the toilet? If you help someone and they are decent in return good, if they kick you in the teeth after you try to help, then screw them. There are people right here at home who would welcome the help. Help some elderly people out on fixed incomes with their heating and medical bills or some thing like that, buy a wheel chair van for vet returing from Iraq that is a quad, at least they wont urinate down your back. As far as the religion thing, it ought to tell you some thing about some one who wont even help their own.

OK, I forgot to put an emoticon on that quote to show I was being facetious. I do not really think we should stop all aid. I was just thinking that maybe if we did pull out it would shock the world into thinking about what the Muslim countries are saying and doing. How can they think we (Infidels) are there to take their (Muslim) aid money? That just doesnÂ’t make sense. It just shows that they donÂ’t care about their own and that they love their money more than their fellow Muslims and others in need.

I also agree with what FWiedner said; there should be no expectation of thanks, reward, or repayment.

And while we are on the subject, did you know that if the Red Cross comes to your aid in our own country you will be given a bill for that aid? When I lost my house in a mudslide 25 years ago I was billed for the blankets they gave my family. I was both shocked and ticked off.

Maybe you should start a email campaign to let folks know that about the Red Cross. That would get their attention and maybe change their policies. :x Since all their money comes from donations that is pretty damn petty. :x I have donated before in the past to them I guess I will have to change my thinking on that. Thanks for the heads up.

My Dad got little r&r in ww11, but said that when the red cross had coffee and donuts that the soldiers had to pay for them, or they got nothing. My dad couldn't stand them. My uncle told similar stories when he fought in korea. POWDERMAN.

I wont give anything not even my blood to the red cross!! when I was on active duty we had a kid from PI in our squad. His father died and he wanted to go back home for the funeral. We all thought the red cross "was there to help" What a bunch of BS! They wouldnt even loan him the money for a ticket home. They said since he was an E-3 they didnt think he could pay it back, if he were an E6,or7 or an officer they would loan him the money. A bunch of us took up a collection and got the kid a round trip ticket. I can still remember him crying when we gave it to him. He wanted to pay us all back, but not a one of us was interested. From then on I dontated to the USO. More than once the USO was there for us, handing out coffee, pop, sandwiches, cookies, candy ect, and a friendly face to talk to. The USO gave to a lot of GI's. The red cross can KMA!

PowderMan-my uncles and several elderly acquaintenances I know told me the same thing. When they got sent to the rear the Red Cross were selling coffee and doughnuts to the service men but The Salvation Army were giving it away. When I make a donation you know which one I support.

The salvation army is tops in my book. I've never heard a good report about the red cross from someone who's actually had an experience with them. If you believed the news media they always get top billing, never telling the truth. Hmmmmm, wonder if they are run by the dumcraps? POWDERMAN.
