Could someone please tell me which weaver base the rossi takes. My nephew got a 20 gauge/ 22 combo and I would like to get the mount to put a scope on the 22 thank you in advance

Can you guys tell me if all the sights on these rifles are removable. I am thinking about getting a 243 and was curious.

Bubba you can also order a weaver style rail directly from Rossi USA for $14.50 + postage. http://rossiusa.com/products/ScopeMountDetail.cfm

257Robt if the .243 has the same site set up as my .22 (3/8" dove tail slot on barrel) and I believe it does, the answer is yes they are easily removed.

Utica NY what red dot are you using? I'm considering getting a 30mm BSA red dot from Sportsmans Guide for $22.  http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=178896&pn=2

Thanx Guys that was what I thought I may pull one off my encore to get him going today. I have the scope and rings just needed the base. Didn't want to pull it apart if it wasnt the right one.

yep the rossi's use the T/C base. And yes the sights are removeable. tap out the rear and the front one has a screw holding it on.

Thanks Utica, think I will give it a try on my daughters youth combo.  The open sites that came on the gun may work fine for my daughters young eyes, but with the short youth stock its square notch rear site is right at the end of my nose and my ol' peepers can't focus on it worth a lick.  8)

The TC Contender scope rail is the one you want, it has the correct contour on the bottom where it mates to the barrel. If you look the Encore mounts countour is different than the contour on the barrel of a Rossi.I used to have a Encore base on mine, but found the Contender base fits better.Hope this helps.

FYI.  I just found out today that you can special order the Rossi or Weaver basses that fit the Rossi's at Wal-Mart.  They are about $5 cheaper thru Wal-Mart than ordering directly from Rossi + there is no shipping charges if you order thru Wal-Mart.      You can also order the hammer extensions thru Wal-Mart for under $5.
