445 supermag, I like the 16ga for a upland gun. I currently own 3. However none are drillings or combo guns. I would like to try either a drilling or a combo someday. Interesting topic. One of my 16's is a nickel steel model 12 winchester. It has a short chamber. I have yet to address this problem. What are your sugestions? Regards, Byron

I have been finding that a lot of 16,s are not 2-3/4. I have a drilling that are 2" in one chamber and 2-1/4 in the other. A marlin overunder with 2-1/2" chambers. All the chambers will fit and fire 2-3/4 " shells. I have sum fiocce jr that are 2-5/8". Sum chambers are 2-9/16".
The big problem is that modern shell have a star crimp that when fired opens up in the forceing cone. The old shells had a wad and a roll crimp. Do not think that if a 2-3/4  fits in the chamber that it is allright.
Get the chamber lenthen. I use the brownal,s long forceing cone reamer to lenthen cone and chamber.
