need some help went to local gun show last night and bought what i thought was a 17hmr rifle barrel to fit the old contender frame and i suppose some of you know the rest of the story! i cant get it to unbritch i have pulled all the pins how do i get it off so i can take it bach & why wont it work thanks need quick replly

It sounds like you have an old frame and new barrel problem. The locking lugs on the new barrel should be split and the frame will be compatible with the solid locking lugs. I have only had this problem once and I had to push the barrel back into the frame with the hinge pin pulled and breaking the action open at the same time. Someone correct me here if I'm wrong. There has been much discussion about this issue so you should get plenty of feedback on it.

thanks for the quick reply flash i got it off i may never get my frame put together but i got it off looks like the lug on the barrel is has a different bevel to it does any one know if you can change this with the regular cotender barrel or not?

You might be able to find a solid locking lug on the classified forum. Most Contender shooters encounter this problem at least once. Email T/C and see if you can get one from them.

Got my contender frame back together sent the barrel back to the dealer still like the idea of the 17hmr and contender rifle
