I didn't see all the level of "hate" you're describing in the article you've provided a link to.

The devestation and suffering caused by the tsunami are sad and regrettable, but I must admit, I like natural beaches.

I don't see a bit of difference between wanting the places I hunt to stay natural and unpolluted, and wanting a beach somewhere to stay the same.

If these folks manage to keep these beaches natural after this disaster, more the better.
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

I'll have to agree with FWiedner.  The beaches should be for everyone, fishermen, swimmers, nudists  , etc.  I'll have to admit that I feel a sense of satisfaction when a hurricane re-arranges our beaches with a bit of nature's urban renewal.

The people's summer homes on the ocean are insured with policies paid for by the tax payers....you and I.  I resent this, also.

If I were King, I would allow no construction, other than fishing piers, within 1000 yards of the high tide line.  I would also provide FREE bait for everyone.  Vote for ME for King. :-D

FWeidner,

I understand your meaning.  Now that I've cooled down, I will explain what I got out of what they were saying.  I was not really able to glean any sort of good out of the way they phrased their words.  It sounded alot like "Good, nature will show them; they should have listened to us, and left this place alone.  They got what they deserved."  That is more the idea that is portrayed to me.  Same thing when those many people started dancing in the streets after we were attacked on 9/11.  Seemed so much like they wholeheartedly believed we deserved what we got.  So in all honesty, I think they could have explained themselves more clearly, and with more feeling than they did.  It just seems that any sort of natural disaster that happens somewhere, they try to blame it on either commercialism, or even just plain human existance there.  Or even then, you get those sorts of people who start to blame the U.S. for everything that happens in the world.  I too like beaches to be clean; but when they refer to the normal sights seen there during an especially busy time in those areas as :

But some environmentalists are actually celebrating the tidal wave that killed nearly 200,000 people, saying it rid the coastal area of development and other forms of human contamination...It's telling people not to mess with nature, Paradise should be paradise and should not become this civilized."

Those words especially seem hard-hearted to me.  As if their presence, and the many different resorts that were there, are messing with nature.  Maybe I'm a little too one-sided; or maybe, like many say, we should not believe everything the media says.  But if these words are true, then I just don't like the attitude some enviros have about what occurs on Earth.  This was just a normal action (like many) that happens on earth, and they start pointing to it as a "Mother Nature fights back" thing.  All these people were enjoying themselves out on the beach during a Holiday, and they are calling that as the area being "too civilized."  They almost look upon this disaster as a relief, and as a way to prove some strange point I am unaware of.

I'm sure it can be a nice change.

But, in the process of rearranging, what if tens of thousands of people are rearranged into a death agony in the process?  That is what concerns me with their wording.  They don't seem to give a care to the death and destruction wrought to many thousands upon thousands of lives, and they are talking as if some long-awaited miracle has happened.  Is there something I'm missing here? :?

I have read the article three times and have failed to see any rejoicing.  If you have any articles of that nature, please post them.

Loader 3009,

I searched for any other articles about the story in discussion, and much to my surprise, I was unable to locate any others.  I even went to the Associate Press website, as one of the people quoted in the link was quoted as talking to an AP reporter.  So in view of that, I also deleted my remarks which were stated more in anger than in reason.  Why? First, because I think its childish to act in that way; Second, because I would not want my words to remain based upon a one and only article.  But I am leaving up the link, so anyone else who wants to will be able to read the story and see what has been discussed here.
