God Hates Me...
« on: January 08, 2005, 06:48:55 PM »
Somehow my 45-70 was dropped and the scope knocked loose, I believe it happend as I was gutting that spike. Anyway, I was trying to sight in a new load for it and it wouldn't group, I mean it wouldn't stay on a 20" log turned on end, most were out of a 3' square area. After firing about 7 rounds I went to adjust the scope and it nearly fell off the rifle. Needless to say, the hammering it took while loose broke it. I had one in the house I removed from my 30-30 I could put on it, meanwhile I had to cast some more bullets up. They cast undersize, I've yet to figure that out, but when I fired them, they keyholed and leaded the #&%^*&%* out of my barrel. After a vigourus scrubbing, I discovered the second scope broken as well *&^*&%^%!#@@#! Removed the scope and rail, and proceeded to use the iron sights, which had never been adjusted. Had to load more bullets........only had Large Rifle Magnum Primers, rewarded with football size groups **%^%$%^#%$@#!@! Remembered I had some Large Pistol Magnum Primers. Loaded a few more....softball size groups. Dug through all my stuff and found 23 CCI Larger Rifle Primers. Loaded 10 more, fired 3, a 3" group. Good enough. Went and sat in my stand for 2.5 hours and froze my butt off, right in the middle of an all time heat wave record in January, didn't see diddly. Went back to house, took wife to dinner. Went by the beer store, beer store closed, tomorrows Sunday, no Sunday sales.

Some people say they can cause me trouble, causing my trouble is like poking butter up a wildcats ass with a hot knife, but they are welcome to try. And just think, there are three more weeks of deer season left. Anyone for a round of Golf???

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes.  Actually God loves you   but sometime He lets things happen for a reason.

As for the undersized bullets.  I know almost nothing about casting bullets, but I did read somewhere that if the mold was too cool when you poured the lead in, it could cause this to happen.  Something about the mold causing the lead to cool too quickly.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

JPH45,
Let's see, you got a spike with your 45/70, you got to sit in the woods all day, you went out to dinner with the wife. It doesn't sound like such a bad day when you put in the right light. I'll bet your glass was half empty.

OK guys, I know how it could be worse, and believe me you don't want to go through it. JPH45, please allow me to say something about your "TROUBLES"  (you call those troubles?, you ain't got no stinkin troubles!! :-D ), they will all pass with the help of God. Those little, tiny, itsy-bitsy, baby sized bumps in the road, those things that merely serve to make life interesting so it doesn't get boring, will soon all be forgotten. As difficult as it is to imagine, in the "grand scheme of things" they could be a blessing(s) in disguise! I hope and pray that those are the only things you ever have to worry about, and if they are you will be among the luckiest and most blessed on this earth!!! I recall a rich lady, a milllionairess, who committed suicide because she could not perfect her backhand tennis swing and felt embarrassed at her "country club", is that trouble? To her it was., Remember, everything is relative, everything. I sincerely hope no one here ever experiences any more trouble than he already has, and hopefully less.....<><....

By the way, I forgot to mention, he doesn't hate you, he loves you!!!

Now I really did not want to get serious here :( . WHAT!?, me worry? :-D  :-D  :-D

Take a deep breath. Thank God for loving you. And thank Him for giving you the ability to work through these minor problems. You know what to do. And as my grandson says "Get 'er Done".

Sorry about the the post early this morning, I guess I sounded like a smarta$$. But you did add a little humor at the end of your post and I was just following up.

It sounds like my day Thur.  I've been working with a couple of Arabian horses I bought, trying to settle them down to load in the trailer for the trip home. Every thing went perfect in the loading, got them to the house, and the first one came out perfect, the second one ( the one I really wanted to train) turned in the trailer, fell and broke her leg.Well since I could'nt load her back up with a broken back leg,I called the vet to the house and it cost me nearly $300 more, having to put her down. O well I've still got 1 to hog hunt with.  Digger

A triple whammy. You can't afford to fall asleep in an endeavor you enjoy so much.

Norbert Wiener  1894-1964

The future offers very little hope for those who expect that our new mechanical slaves will offer
us a world in which we may rest from thinking. Help us they may, but at the cost of supreme demands upon our honesty and our intelligence. The world of the future will be an ever more demanding struggle against the limitations of our intelligence, not a comfortable hammock in which we can lie down to be waited upon by our robot slaves.
