model 15 re-barrel
« on: January 09, 2005, 06:03:48 AM »
Happy New Year to All,
My brother just repossessed an S&W model 15, 4" I sold him many years ago. I've been wanting a model 19 w/6" barrel. Do you think it would be possible to locate a barrel, (with the half under-lug), & put it on this gun without too much trouble? The only thing it doesn't have is chambering for the mag cartridge, (I can live with that) & the recessed or countersunk chambers that the older guns allowed the cart rims to sit flush with the back face of the cylinder. I could get the gun for $200.00 from him. It would be used mainly for target shooting. Is this a good idea or not? Thanx for the feedback. jd45.

I'd look for a model 14/6" barrel? Nit sure the cylinder length would work with  a magnum barrel? Gun Parts would be my first stop.  http://www.gunpartscorp.com/domesticorderingenglish.htm
