Does anyone currently manufacture a .218 Bee in bolt action?
« on: February 02, 2003, 04:40:36 PM »
I have recently become very interested in this caliber (not sure why, I just get on these kicks sometimes) but the only rifle that I can find is a Ruger single shot model.

Are there any bolt actions in this caliber?

Thanks,
Dragoon

I believe Rampro makes one. Check out www.ramprocorp.com You also might look for an old original Kimber, they made some in .218.

Find the Cooper Arms web site.  The Oct-Nov 2002 Handloader featured an article about a Cooper rifle that was 218 Mashburn Bee.  They might offer the standard bee too.  I thought Browning may have done a replica 218 lever gun several years ago too.

Look for an old Winchester M43.  A really great little magazine fed bolt gun..  They were made in 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 32-20 and 25/20.  Don't hotrod them and they'l amaze you with what can be done with such a small cartridge..  A M43 won't be cheap but the price proably won't fall  either so I look at them as grerat investments and great fun also!!  Good luck from the gunnut69

The few that I have found so far are a bit pricey.

I am wondering if I could just get a Ruger compact bolt action and have it re-barrelled?

Sure you can get the Ruger rebarreled to 218 Bee. You will also need to get some kind plug or block built to fill the magazine well as the Bee won't work in the Hornet mag.
