Anyone Swaging their own for knurling or paper patch.

I've been checking into this and it looks fun, and well getting the perfect bullet is what we are all after.  Swaging is the most precise method of making a bullet. It is extremely fast, easy to learn, and has many additional advantages over casting.

Nice read at Corbins Bullet Swaging Systems  And for those that are not into swaging yourself but want to purchase your swaged bullets On Target Swaging has ready made knurled and paper patched bullets (un-papered).  I have found discussions about knurled bullets holding more lube than those with lube grooves etc.

Of course there is also Midway for the Montana Precision Swaging bullets on page 4

:D  I bought one of Richard Corbin Walnut Hill presses and didn't realize how consistent the weight can be by swaging. When I cast the weight can vary as much 3 to 5 gn. My swaged bullets don't vary much more than 1.5 to 2 gn. I paper patch to a dia. of 459 and have very good luck in my 45-100 Sharps.

This is what I want to AVOID... the task of sorting by weight after casting.

What kind of die setup do you use to get that much varyence swaging? do you use a core form die? or you just cut lead wire or casting the core with out running them through a core form die?
If you are using a one step die that bleeds off excess lead, you might want to hold the ram up a little longer to give the lead a chance to bleed off, or run it through twice.
My bullets don't vary over 1/10 grain.

Dont go were the path leads,go were there is no path and leave a trail.

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. I'm in process of packing to move and have been pretty busy lately. I bought a core mold when I bought my press. I just set it to drop a core about 3 grains heavy.
The die bleededs off the excess.
