Well, I went back today and bought it. I couldn't get the shop owner to come down on the price at all, but still feel I did okay for $99.95 plus tax considering that I checked several other shops in the area and similar type rifles (Rem 510, 511, 512, etc.) that were in far worse condition were priced anywhere from $100-$150. Serial # is 148,XXX and my research shows it was made in Sept. of 1935. Got it home and cleaned the bore and action. Bore is absolutely beautiful with nice crisp rifling. I cycled a few rounds through it to check function and so far it functions flawlessly and is very smooth. This gun appears to have been shot little in its almost 70 year life. Didn't have the opportunity to get out and shoot it yet but hope to soon. A little fine steel wool to get some built up crud off the metal in a few spots and something to hide the scratches on that walnut stock and she should be looking just beautiful. So far, I'm quite pleased with the new addition to my rimfire collection. Hope she shoots as good as she looks.
