Review: Kicks the snot outta me. Oh my shoulder hurts.  :)

Yup I got one. Shot it 6 times. Two three shot groups. Shoulder hurt for two weeks so bad the most powerful pain stuff (over the counter) I had wouldn't fix it. But be aware I have a really bad case of bursitis in my right shoulder. Might not bother you as bad. Then too you might be smart enough not to be shooting elephant loads in yours when you try it.

Love the looks and feel of it. Even with the factory irons it did shoot well with those six shots it has had fired in it so far. Still trying to decide just what I'm gonna do with it. I ordered a Pachmayr Decellerator Pre-Fit pad and put on it. Think I'll try it again now with milder loads and the pad. Doctor gave me a cortisone shot in the shoulder joint and put me on arthritis medications and the shoulder is much better now. Of course the doctor also told me no more shooting long guns but I'm not really paying attention to that. Heck he also told me no more shooting handguns since I have arthritis in my hands and tendonitus in my wrists. I ain't paying attention to that either.

WB yew jist don't have my right shoulder and the bursitis I have. I shot both 300s and 400s the first time. Don't rightly recall the velocity of them as it was a long time ago I loaded and clocked them. Best I recall tho the 400s were over 1800 and the 300s way faster. Both hurt me badly even with the 1/2" thick PAST pad on my shoulder.

I plan to try it again now that I have the Pachmayr pad on it but with 300s closer to 1250-1400 fps range. That's really no more than a .45 Colt load in it.

Unless the doctor's get my right shoulder fixed my days of shooting guns from the bench with recoil much above the .243 level are about over. Just one shot from the LW .243 with 90 BTs without the PAST pad was painful to the shoulder the other day wearing a t-shirt. The two shots from the LSS Mtn. Rifle in 7-08 at the deer didn't hurt but I did have several layers of clothes on that day as it was pretty chilly. Hunting with rifles with recoil at the 7-08 level isn't going to be a problem but shooting for fun or from the bench for testing may no longer be do able for me. Just gonna hafta see what the medications I'm taking for the shoulder do for it. The all day every day pain is gone from it now but it is still very tender to recoil.

Just too many hundreds of thousands of rounds have hammered it I guess. I think my days of 12 ga. shooting might also be over. I've picked up a nice little 28 ga. double I'm planning on trying soon for wing shooting.

I bought this same gun a few weeks ago after months of hesitation.

It's long.  If you don't really like the balance, get the one of the shorter ones.

Other than that, the fact you can carry 9+1 in it, and it's classical look, really sold me.

After firing forty rounds of factory 405s in one bench-sitting, I didn't hurt much at all.  Seems the weight really does a number sucking up the recoil.  I'll probably put some sort of a pad on it for the heavy-duty rounds from Garrett someday.

The sights suck, in my opinion.  I plan on changing them out when I get an idea what I'd rather have.  I'm just not happy with the way mine work.

Overall, I love it.  It's my new favorite gun.
