Call up and ask for the "Pistol Shooters Treasury". About $8 or $9 a while back. Its a compilation of articles from a lot of top shooters. Its a little dated sometimes, but invaluble info. Get a catalog while your on the phone too, lots of goodies there.

Successful Pistol Shooting, by Leatherdale is probably the best recent book, covering principally precision shooting. I don't know anything about action shooting, but if you look for champions choice www.champchoice.com, and they have several titles of both books and videos.

Remember stance and hold is your own preference, what ever works for you, its good to start with basics, once you find your niche, do everything the same every time, I'm a righty so I like to stand with my left foot forward pointing to the target, my right foot back a bit and tern outward for over all balance, knees slightly bent, My right hand holds the grip, my left hand cups the right, with my left thumb crossing over my right thumb, left elbow tucked into your-left chest for balance, I use a push/pull method, I push with my right hand slightly and pull with my left hand slightly, this will help with recoil and muzzle flip, don't over lap your index finger to far over the trigger, in the middle of your first index at most. I like to use the end of my finger, this words away heeling, finger pulls straight back for better results, remember not to tight or to loose on your hold, there is a happy medium. good luck. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

One thing I've noticed when sighting in, is a rather large shift in point of impact depending on whether the pistol grip is on a rest or not.  With both the forend and pistol grip supported the point of impact is lower than with just the forend supported.

For what it's worth.  My reading of articles by top ranked shooters tell me that breathing and sight picture are important but that trigger control is most important of all.  If you don't have a smooth trigger pull you won't hit snot with your handgun.

Well I will add my 2 cents for what I think has helped me. As crazy as this may sound I been shooting archery both hunting and indoors during our long drawwn out winters up here in norhtern N.Y. since 1987. This may sound nuts but archery has made me a better handgun shooter! With archery there is alot of points you got to be control of stance, proper hand position, pulling release same way all the time, etc. If this is not all done same time all the time your accuracy will soon change. I have incorporated this into shooting my handguns and  it works for me! Dont get me wrong I not saying you should go out and get set up with a bow, this is just my opinion on what made me better i think!

Any good book or writings will teach you what you need to know for a bullseye game. If hunting, anything that will help you hit your intended target, in the right place, is used. Comfortable possitions are best. Two hands, three hands backpacks, shirt rolled up, trees, prone, anything that works is a good one.
