I'm putting together my first Encore and the local gun shop has only a frame.  What do you suggest for a grip and forearm that would reduce felt recoil?

I like their new all rubber grip and forearm.  Really takes the vibration out of the heavy chamberings.

yep...the factory rubber grip will help with recoil. i got a set of laminate grips on my 15" 7-08. i can shoot 40rnds and still not hurt my hand, while shootin 120gr noslers at 2800fps.

check out http://www.olegeorgiajim.com/ for laminates. he does do encore grip/forearms. man they are pretty! 8)

That's one of the pistol barrels I have and use the rubber grips with that.

I think you would do pretty well at Ed's Contenders at:  http://www.edstc.com/edstc/index.html

If you want to reduce the recoil a little more consider shooting a lighter bullet like a 125, but you really won't have trouble with 150 or 165's if you don't try to fight it.
