Any Idea??????????
« on: January 11, 2005, 12:24:04 PM »
I picked up a pellet rifle at a local pawn shop last night.  It looks to be near new, not a mark on it and that is the problem.  I removed the stock and can find no marks, numbers or anything on it that will tell me who made it or where it was made.  It is a .177 caliber, barrel cocking rifle.  The barrel is 20 inches long with 7 grove rifling.  No dove tail groves for scope mounting just the iron sights on the barrel.  With K&N pellets it gives 821 fps. and is very accurate.  The trigger breaks at 3.22 lbs. with no creep.

Now for the part that stumps me the most, there is no safety of any kind, no marks that there ever was one on this rifle.  The price tag said $35.00 but after a little dickering I walked out with the rifle and my wallet was $20.00 lighter.  Anyone got any idea who would make a rifle without any marks, numbers on it?  With NO safety?  Why make a rifle with no identifying marks?  Lawdog

sherpa,

I'll get my daughter to take a couple of pictures and see IF they will post.  I have't had the best of luck getting pictures to post here.  Do you think it could have been a proto type that someone walked off with?  Lawdog

Chinese.
Very cheaply made, no safety, lousy wood, metal is o.k.
They are not a work of crafstmanship.
BUT! They ae usefull, they are accurate, and do a whole lot for your twenty bucks.
I have one about 10 years old, paid 17 bucks new in the cheesy box with a box of Chinese pellets.
The pellets are junk, the rifle works fine to this day.
They are still imported with a crude but effective trigger block safety lever.

jeager106,

Is the Chinese import you are talking about have a matte finish and a imitation walnut stock with a very short pull?  Lawdog
