muzzleloader ? pistol or rifle?

Well tax returns are getting close and I want a new barrel already I just got my encore at the beginning of december  44mag pistol 15" barrel then for christmas I got a boyd laminated stock and forend and a 22-250 26" heavy barrel, now I want a muzzleloader but I don't know if I want a rifle barrel or a pistol barrel and I don't know if I want a 45cal or 50cal. So if you have a pistol how do they shot? I'm leaning turd the pistol because early muzzleloader season here you have to use open sights so that limits me to about 75 yards but probable more like 20 to 40 yards so I think the pistol would be better suited for that. Any way just wanted to see what you guys mite think.


PS. I think I'm an addicted now because I want a muzzleloader and I'm also thinking about a shotgun barrel.

A friend of mine uses a 45 cal muzzle loader pistol(encore,I believe) and has had great luck on deer out to 100 yards.I use a Knight 50ca with 45 cal sabots.I'm thinking of a 45 pistol barrel using 45cal Power belt bullets.
