Scope on a Sauer combo gun
« on: January 12, 2005, 06:38:15 AM »
I have a JP Sauer combo gun in 16 gauge over 7x57R.  I would like to mount a scope on it.  I have a mount, which I believe is made by Redfield, consisting of a bar that lies on the top rib of the gun.  On the base of the bar at the front, is a dovetail that fits into the dovetail slot on the rib that the fixed sight sits in.  The back of the bar is fixed to the rib by means of a screw which attaches the bar to the rib.  On the top of the bar, is a pivot mounting system for attaching rings.

My question is this.  Has anyone heard of an after-market, scope mounting system loosening the rib on a combo gun under recoil?  Does anyone have a better idea, short of installing claw mounts at half the price of the gun?

I have never hear of that happening.

EAA the importer of Baikal recommends B-Square air gun mounts.  I have the B-Square mounting a Leupold scope and have never had a problem.  That combination is abused by me.  Yet I have never had to resight the scope.

Good Luck.

Never heard of a problem with the rib giving up. Many have a scope, sometimes a heavy one (50mm obj) mounted on the rib.
