This is gonna be a can of worms...
There are around 46 different powders that are acceptable. And I guarantee that you will hear about all 46, plus some that aren't.
Here's my choice...
IMR-3031 From 30.0 grains to 37.9 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer

IMR 4350
Hard to make a mistake with the 4350 powders.
Check the data to be sure, but my experience has shown that full loads of 4350 works well in everything from 6mm to the .30-06.

Thanks for your input you guys. I don't have time to experiment with all the different powders that are out there and any proven pet loads are a great help. Thanks for any info.
I forgot to add that the Ruger twist is 1-10.

Hummer, I'll chime in on this one! IMR4831 has given me the best results, however, being that every rifle is an individual, you'll just have to experiment.
Good luck, and, be safe!

The best groups I have ever recorded in my 243 were with Sierra 85 gr at 35.9 with IMR3031. Also found that the gun shot Hornady 70 gr sp very well with IMR 3031 using 36.2 gr. Showed a dislike for 75 gr bullets though. I at that time was not noting the col.

Hey there .243 shooters,
Sure is wonderful that we can have a reason to discuss such a question, so will also render an opinion.
Those who have already voted for the 4831 are IMHO on the right track.
I have loaded many bullets in the 243 as light as the 75gr Hollow Points, with H and IMR 4831 and had great results.
4350 H & IMR as well as AA3100 all have the potential to serve your needs very well.
Keep em coming!
