How do you make a crossbow quiet? I have a Barnett Thunderbolt that sounds like a 22 rifle when I pull the trigger. Can I use the whisker's that compound bows use?

You can if you don't mind a bit of reduced speed on the bolts. You can also use limbsavers, they make them specifically for xbows but they also cut speed. I would not worry though, if you keep the shots under 30 yards or so. the deer (or whatever quarry) does not have enough time to jump or duck the shot.

jhalcott what you hear and what the critter you are shooting at hears is two different things. By this I mean you the shooter hear what sounds really loud do to the fact your cheek is againest the stock and you are behind the xbow.

Out in front and down 20 yards the noise is very little. Too prove this set a portable tape player behind or beside you and fire your xbow, then take the tape player and set it at 20 yards by your target and shoot again. You will see with this test what I am telling you. About all you will hear at the target is the bolt hit, not your xbow..
