Gun-show prices
« on: January 13, 2005, 05:02:12 AM »
:D Going to a gun-show this weekend and the Handis going with me. What's the average selling price of these guns? It's an SB-2 .223 bull bbl, and a 20 ga. topper bbl. The .223 has a Simmons Deer-field 4X12X40 AO scope. Could some-one give me an idea of a fair price? All feed-back appreciated.

Please write me off of GB outdoors, I do not want to be a part of it any more.

You can get them for 200 new plus the cost of the scope and extra barrel.

Hey BA, why not just sell Jeffery8mm back the 20 gauge barrel and then sell the gun to someone here?....<><....

Have to run that by RH when he gets out of school. The gun belongs to him. Now, I believe the original question was, what's a fair selling price for this gun in good used condition?

Please let me know.  I will pay a fair price for the 20ga.  The .223 I dont know what it is worth, but I bet it would sell quick on the classifieds.

Broken Arrow:

I've seen them for as little as $125.00...and as much as $165...Ultras go for almost as much as you can buy them for new over $225... used with scopes...the extra  shotgun barrels don't mean a great deal at most gun shows I've gone to unless they were a rilfed slug barrel...you might get an extra $25-$40 for the smooth bored 20 ga. barrel...but would command a much higher price if it was a rifled slug barrel...at least here where I live being in such close proximaty to Illinois and their Shotgun/Muzzeloader only deer seasons...a good 223  bull barrel combo...with a 20 ga. Ultra Slug barrel went for over $325 at the last gun show I was at...you could always sell Jeff the barrel back... then sell the 223 barrel to someone else...and pick up a  Ultra barrel for it...a nice 25-06...270...280...30-06...or even go the stainless barrel on your black frame would look exceptionallly fine...

I gotta ask...why is he wanting to sell it?...

:-) Hey Mac, I don't want to start a long drawn out thread here.  :-D  But the reason for getting rid of the Handi is because he does'nt trust it. I've seen some pretty good groups from this gun and the next time you shoot it , it might shoot all over the place. And if you clean it you have to start all over.  And the way I personally feel about that, whether it's a gun , a car, a woman or what-ever. If you feel it can't be trusted, it's time to send it on down the road. :money:

Mac, I started to post and let you know about a 12 gauge Tracker II for sale in the regular GB classifieds for $60.00 shipped, a good deal I thought, and the seller (our own honest and trustworthy mjbgalt) would buy it back if it did not fit your frame, a good deal!! But as is common with all good things it was SOLD!!! At least someone on this board got it, congratulations one hole 45-70 on a fine addittion. I guess if Tim50 isn't quick you own it fair and square!!!  You, as I, like big bores I see, 45-70's and 12 gauges!!!!....<><....

Broken Arrow:

I can see your point...good luck on selling it...I hope it sells quickly for you..but please ask your son if he would consider  selling the  the 20ga. barrel back to Jeff...he would like to have it back...

MSP...you got that right...I have always liked a good shooting Slug gun...preferable in 12ga...and the 45-70...well...what's not to like about them...ehhh?

Broken-arrow, I've found when a gun becomes undependable in it's grouping, it's usually a scope problem, not a gun problem.  Check that out very carefully, probably the mount is loose or the scope may not hold zero.  It would be a shame to take a hit on a gun that you like because of a couple of loose mount screws.  44 Man

Broken-arrow, sounds like you already have a sale for the 20ga.  I think that will net more than selling as a combo.

FWIW, I have a buddy who just went head-over-heels with TC Encores and sold his .243 Ultra Varmit w/Tasco WC 6x24 for $250.

I think I might jump in the middle of this, I could use another 223 & would like a 20 gague smooth bore as a back up to my auto. Now what is a fair price the last handi I picked up was $125 for a 270 win, fixed 4x tasco shot very little. Not fond of tascos but it will do for now. If Jeffery8mm still wants the 20 I could sell it to him if he needs it that bad. I am just north of OKC so we could meet out on I40 Elreno way or a little farther west. I will PM you with an offer :-)

I just recently saw a used Handi in 30-06, with a Tasco 3-9x40 mounted on it. The scope can't be more than $35 new. The rifle and scope combo wore a $185 price tag. I thought that was too much. It also had the worst trigger I've ever felt on a Handi, and that goes for rifles or shotguns.

I might jump in the middle of this I could use another 223 & a 20 gauge back up for my auto, dog training ect. have a new lab 1st dog I have tried to train, free dog so I can't go too wrong. Any how back to the topic. As far as a fair price, the last handy I bought was a 270 win with a 4x fixed tasco & a box of shells $125. Shot very little & I am not frond of tascos I didn't want it but neither did the guy I bought it from It will do for now.

I could always resell the barrel back to Jeffery8mm if he needs it that bad but you have to know I will give it a good home.

I am north of OKC we could meet up somewhere if a deal is struck & a mutual time can be met, I have a pretty full schedule at the moment.

I will PM you with an offer

OOPs getting a this page not etc & not knowing if my post made it

MSP ret Ilike big bores & small bores goes boom or pop I like
But big bores are fun when you don't need a scope to see the hole in you target :biggun:

:? Wait a minute there Mac, an offer was made but has not been accepted. RH says thanks but no thanks, no more handis for him.
I've already been called a renigger.(Is that a word ) BTW Brett, I believe the first time I offered the gun for $250 with both the .223 and .308 bbls. No-one jumped on it, too high I guess. Then Jeffery8mm offered $50 for the .308 bbl alone. Jeff now has that bbl.
And Yes riddleofsteel, this gun has had the trigger done , complete with overtravel screw, bore polished, fore-arm floated with an O-ring, scope base epoxied on, and it shoots real good when it wants to. And I mean groups that go from 1/2" to 3" and back to 1/2". It seems that the groups open up when the bore is too dirty, and when it's too clean. Heck, maybe it's just moody :-D
The gun-show I was speaking of is this Saturday and Sunday @ Elk City OK. @ the Civic center. If the handi makes it home from there, it will be put in the GB classifieds....

Mac, just to make it clear, I accepted the offer of a trade of the .223 that would not shoot consistantly for a .22 Mag (that shoots GREAT!!) and offered it back to RH/BA for their approval. I offered my .22 Mag coyotr gun in one of several configurations for their approval, swapped with or without sighting systems, Red Dot for Scope, or without sighting systems, bare guns w/scope rails. Also, a stock of their choice, Synthetic Survivor w/Storarm Forearm which is how I hunt with it, a regular wood stock and forearm or brown laminated wood stock and forearm set. The choice was up to them. I guess they elected not to go with the trade since they have not responded to my messages. I feel that is their choice and is OK with me. I guess RH might have just mentioned in passing or offhand that he would trade it for a .17 or a .22 Mag and perhaps he did not really mean it. It's OK, to reiterate, it's their gun and their choice....<><.... :(

P.S. - I had already PM'd Jeffery8mm, if I got the gun he was going to get the 20 gauge barrel back....Sorry Jeff.. :(

OK BA, thanks for the reply. I think someone had a savage in either .17 or .22 Mag for sale recently. It may have been in the regular GB classifieds. Good Luck....<><....
