called nef about extractors
« on: January 13, 2005, 06:35:35 AM »
I called nef on Jan 5 2005 the day they reopened after the holidays .....Asked them about the extractor ejector thing!!!!!!The Lady I talked to I asked when the last of the ejectors will role off the line....She said right now all {except the 204 & I think she said the 22-250} still have ejectors.....But as soon as they run out of there ejector frames which she has no exact day this year....they will be all extractors  :(  :(  :( ......So I went out and bought a 30-06 before they got switched....I'm a big ejector fan......Here hunting in Wisconsin with warm gloves.....20 above 0 to -20 below 0...I have a hard time gripping that spent shell that might only come out about .25 inchs.......Clear and away is the best for my conditions here.......Yes bench rest shooting and people that reload like extractors but hunting in some conditions ejector rules.......Maybe we should tell nef that there should be away to get either one depending on everyones needs.....Like a special order thing.....But ejector was one point that sold me on the handi rifle.... Thanks for listening i will go wipe my tears now!!!! please express yourself I bet i'm not the only one sad...

I think that if I were in your boots, I would just tip the muzzle up and let that extracted brass fall out on its own....no worry about the one in a hundred that may fail to eject with the old ejector system in the "heat of the battle". I much prefer the extractor over the ejector and apparently H&R agrees. I've only had one FTE, but there has been one poster here that had one FTE due to water in the chamber while hunting in the rain, and it do rain a lot here!
