Used Thompson Contender price

Saw a used contender with 14" .22LR bbl in a pawn shop for$499 reduced to $399.  It looks excellent, doesn't appear to have been shot much.  Is this a decent price?  Would appreciate fast response if this is a good price so that I can go get it.

Papa4,
Just turned down a used contender frame (bare, no wood) for $200, and grip and forend would add $20-$90 depending on wood/composite and new/used. New Encore frames with grip and forend go for around $250-$280 now, used barrels on e-bay and Auction Arms go between $100 and $150, and once in awhile almost $200. No scope or anything extra on the gun, I'd offer him $350, there's a couple on AA for $365 and $380 with no bids on them yet. $400 isn't bad, but it isn't real good either.
My 2 cents.

helobill,

Thanks.  Got him down to $350 and bought it.  The bbl and frame look almost new.  No rust or loss of blueing.  Frame number is 390902 which has the newer trigger.  Haven't shot it yet but the bbl looks unfired.  I guess I did ok.  Let me know what you think.

You done good, figure $200 for the frame and $150 for the barrel =$350, a fair price and you sound happy with the purchase.  Just remember, you've infected yourself with a disease that'll have you buying, selling and trading barrels so long as you have the frame.

I only have a mild case, been through a 1/2 dozen barrels in the last few years, and have about a dozen more combo's I want to try.

The key is buying used barrels at good or really good prices.  You can then sell the barrel for what you put into it, or maybe make a couple $'s.  I've broken even or made a $ on every barrel I've had.
