Collector 1911s? What are they?
« on: January 14, 2005, 05:08:26 AM »
I have seen some really high priced 1911s on gunsamerica.com  They are collector's items. What makes a collector's 1911 valuable? I looked at the pictures of some of them and they look like plain old 1911s to me.

Any Colt or GI gun will have collector value. In the military guns, Singer Sewing Machine Co  and Union Switch & Signal top the list.

Randalls are collector's items - went out of business after a short run.
If you get the left handed model, you've really got something.

Oregon Kimbers are becoming collectable - believe it or not.

Some of the old WWII and WWI Colts in pristine shape can command about $5000.00.

Oh, and how can I forget! Any 1911 reworked by BamBams is worth a fortune these days.  I happen to have a Kimber Gold Match for sale by the way.
