Guide guns?

I am under the impression that Marlin guide guns are no longer made with ported barrels. Is this true and if so when was the change made?
thanks,
james

I recently purchased a Marlin 1895GS, and one of the things I was adamant about is no ported barrel. I had a look in the dealers 2004 catalogue and there was no mention of ported barrels there. This will tell you the change was made prior to twelve months ago.

There are still ported barrels out there, so you'd be well advised to ask prior to purchase, if you are ordering sight unseen.

James,
The ports went away a couple of years ago.  A few were left over with various distributors after they were discontinued, but are probably all gone by now.
Mine has ports and they do tend to reduce muzzle flip that seems to go with a short barrel.
Best,
