280. 1 1/4 inch. Have only tried two loads. 120 Sierra Pro-Hunter and 140 Ballistic tips.

handirifle, sorry it took so long to answer, I didn't check this thread til tonight. I haven't weighed it but the H&R site lists it at 7lbs and this feels about right, definitely lighter than my 10ga which is supposed to be 9lbs :wink:

my favorite is my only right now: 2004 production standard handi in .30-'06 with factory lam stocks and the sweetest out-of-the-box trigger i've ever encountered. (can't count my son's .308 ultra).
next barrel? maybe a .357, or a .223, or a .22-250 ...
i guess my '06 weighs 8 pounds all up with trashco 4x32 (which WILL be upgraded this summer).

I have two favorites, my 30-06 and my .35 Whelen.  I carry the 06 almost exclusively during the winter.  It's my long range gun.  I carry the Whelen during the summer and fall when the Grizzlies are out.  Never got serious with groups with the Whelen, but the 06 has a 3" group at 300 yards.  I have it sighted in for 300 yards.
