Any 17 Rem. Pet Loads Out There ?
« on: January 16, 2005, 01:31:56 PM »
Am working on loads for a 21" Fox Ridge barrel in 17 Rem.  Started with 25 gr. Hornadys & Varget, min. to max loads and nothing great so far.  Anyone have any favorite recipes?

I have a Contender with a 22" bull in a 17 rem.  I am having good luck with 20 gr V-max and 25.5 gr of H380 (vel 3780 out of my gun). I use this load for shooting P-dogs.

As I said works good in my gun, try it at your own risk in your gun if you would like.

A friend of mine is using Varget and 20 gr V-max in his and is getting good results, and he is pushing them faster then I am.
Happy shooting, may you hit what you aim at.

I have always shot 25 gr bullets and 24 gr 4320.  This combo has accounted for over 100 coyote and 10 bocats with no exit wounds.

I can’t believe that anyone would ask for a reloading receipt on the Internet. BUY a Reloading Book! At least one RELOADING BOOK!

Hi Guys,

MINNESOTA DICK & ESKIMO 36-I very much appreciate YOUR input.  I'm sure you understand that at the cost of $20 per pound of powder and $15 to $30 for bullets your suggestions could save lots of time and money.  I do have MAAANNY reloading manuals.  I do however; value the information shared on this website as it comes from those with experience.  After all.....isn't that the beauty of this forum.  I apologize if my question seemed inappropriate and offended anyone.

Thanks again for your response.

You can't go wrong with 4320 and any 20 or 25 grain bullets!

Thanks Guys

Picked up some 4320 today & loaded a few rounds tonight, hope to try these in the next couple of days.
Will post how these turn out.

Well, the 4320 is a winner. After a fouling shot the rest of the groups turned out 1/2" at 100yds. Sweet!!  Thanks guys.
