He got my wife and kid a day off from work and school... other than that  :P .

What burns me is we no longer get president's day off to honor the men that have presided over our nation yet we get a day off to honor MLK who as far as I know didn't even serve on a city council.  :x  I can think of many truly great men and women, doctors, scientist, military leaders, etc, people who have made a positive impact on the lives of all people regardless of their race, that deserve to be honored way before MLK.

Quote from: TM7
MLK was a man of peace, wasn't he? Hard to imagine what it is like growing up and living as a second class citizen or human. But than again I grew up in the NorthEast and am a victim of a Northeast school system.

I have mixed feelings about him. I remember the peace agenda, but I also remember the riots that erupted in almost every city he travelled to. POWDERMAN.  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?

I really don't think anyone can truthfully answer this question without violating the rules here at GBO. :?

I seriously doubt he did anything "FOR" anyone who posts here at GBO. He might have done some things "TO" some but likely most know him only thru the revisionist history of him. Anyone who believes he was a man of peace just wasn't around to see first hand what he did. I was and he did it here in my home state.

Some might say that what he did for them was to give them one more holiday to be off from work. But even that is false. He in fact took one from us as we already had one in same time period before him which has now been replaced by the name devoted to him, an honor he was most undeserving of.
